Unravelling the biological basis of cancer after 30 years in oncology - & stopping cancer coming back again.
I'm so proud of this interview with retired oncologist Dr Anna Goodwin. I very much hope it will help shed light on cancer - help demystify cancer - for individuals, their families & friends.
I met Dr Anna Goodwin through the Physicians & Scientists for Global Responsibility (PSGR) in around 2019. In the years hence we have both been invited to be trustees.
In our early discussions, most probably at the AGM, I was deeply impressed by her medical and nutritional knowledge, and how well she explains all this ‘stuff’. As for many people, cancer is a ‘big thing’ for me. I watched parents die in my twenties within 3 years of each other.
Over the following years, Goodwin has helped me to not be scared of cancer. Now I recognise that the many daily, healthy steps I take to prevent cancer, also act to help prevent a plethora of other diseases too.
Please note that it will be only very rarely that I will post content from PSGR’s Substack page, but I believe this interview is tremendously important & it, just perhaps, deserves to be widely shared.
One of my most enjoyable roles with PSGR is in interviewing doctors and scientists. I had been bugging Goodwin for about 3 years for an interview. She’s been reluctant as she prefers to stay out of the limelight. But it’s in the bag. It was a large interview, and so it will come in 2 parts - this first part on how we make cancer, while the second part will have a greater focus on nutrition. This first part is an effort to produce a bit of a briefing, it’s an effort to answer or make sense, of many of the questions around what so many of the terms and concepts mean. It often feels like experts are speaking another language, especially in the medical world!
The video includes subtitles so it’s easier to take some of the trickier medical words or conversation threads, and look them up for future research.
The video has also been released in audio/podcast form.
And full disclosure (for les trolls), Goodwin also seems to like this 2 y.o. Substack and is a paid subscriber. There is no financial incentive for doing the video for PSGR. Her greatest benefit is that I will stop nagging her.
Wonderful interview. Two wonderful women. I greatly admire the both of you.
I just wanted to congratulate you on the brilliant post I just read on Brownstone excoriating the state of NZ and the “re-education” of dissenting, conscientious doctors. As depressing as it is to read, it is also illuminating to recognise the exact same processes and tactics that impacted doctors in Australia via bodies like APRHA, in fact the language may as well have been copy and pasted.
